We here at Snikiddy Snacks believe that using organic ingredients in our products not only helps the environment but also helps you and your family, especially your kids.

What Does Organic Mean?

Organically grown foods have to follow strict regulations by the USDA in order to be certified as organic.  http://www.ams.usda.gov/nop/FactSheets/ProdHandE.html

Most people know that organically grown foods are done so without the use of pesticides. But the regulations go much further than that.

For instance, the land that will support the organic crops must be free of chemical pesticides and other prohibited substances for a minimum of three years. The foods cannot be genetically altered [GMO], irradiated or dowsed with sewage sludge. Ew! (Yup, it’s true, many conventionally grown products are grown with the use of sludge.)

Not only is the lack of pesticides good for you and your family, it’s good for the environment. Pesticides can wash away into the groundwater or be swept into rivers and oceans. That affects the wildlife that drinks from these sources too.

Farmers also use less energy when they grow organic crops. Think about the energy used to create, transport and disperse the chemical pesticides; conventional farming uses energy-intensive means to churn out more crops faster, which also leads to poor soil health; irrigation consumes more water and fuel than relying on rain.
