Unlike most of my co-workers, I didn’t grow up living in a very healthy environment. As a kid, I remember both of my parents smoked, we drank a ton of soda (remember Tab?) & we didn’t give a whole lot of thought about the foods we put in our bodies. Every morning I gobbled up bowls of sugary cereals (with whole milk) & on most nights at dinner, the only reason I would eat my vegetables was because I would be rewarded with dessert in exchange for eating all of my peas & carrots. By the way, those veggies I ate almost always came from a metal can with a green giant on the label!

By the time I was in Middle School, both of my parents had quit smoking, they jogged regularly & we ate salad with our dinner every night. I grew up near several farms on Long Island & we would regularly pick peaches & strawberries when they were at their ripest every summer. We swam, we rode bikes (without helmets), we went roller skating, & on one Christmas, my parents bought me my 1st pair of ice skates.

As the working mom of a 4-year old boy, I travel a lot & my husband & I worry about the things that we put in his 35-pound body. Our son Tommy attends pre-school and nuts are banned like the plague & parents aren’t allowed to bring in home-made treats for their kid’s birthdays. Instead, teachers are required to closely examine the ingredients of the ‘baked goods’ that we parents buy from our local grocery stores to make sure no one will be hurt by any of the contents in these processed treats. While I no longer stress out about making the world’s greatest cupcakes for Tommy’s birthday every year, I’m bothered by this. When I was his age, I didn’t have any friends that were allergic to trees, nuts, dairy, wheat or anything like that. I had never heard of Celiac disease and I hadn’t a clue about Autism. I had never heard of soy milk, rice milk, or almond milk, & I never worried about the tap water that flowed from our faucet.

With that said, I feel proud to work for a company like Snikiddy. It’s a brand I trust & feel confident bringing into Tommy’s school. Not only are they safe, but everyone loves their great taste (teachers & students). Whether it’s Puffs, Baked Fries or Eat Your Vegetables, they’re all natural, Gluten free, and wheat free. If that’s got you intrigued, they’re also vegetarian (some are even vegan!) & they’re free of trans-fats, MSG & nuts. Did I mention they also taste great? No wonder Tommy is so popular on the playground these days!

Simple. Wholesome. Real. These are words that all of us at Snikiddy (strive to) live by. I hope you will too. Happy snacking!
